Extreme Looking with Isobel Neviazsky

£60.00

Extreme Looking is a pen and ink drawing workshop led by artist Isobel Neviazsky.

The workshop will begin with a short presentation looking at other artworks to help understand Extreme Looking as a concept. We will use Lucien Freud’s drawings c. 1940s as a reference during this workshop and to set the context for the works we will be making. There will be an introduction to pen and ink explaining how a nib functions. We will embark on a short drawing exploring the marks that we can make with the nib.

There will be a tea break, before we set off into an extended period working on a single drawing, building  detail through hatching, stippling and mark making.

The aim of the workshop is to open up new pathways of perception, with the basis being not in a mechanical “accurate” depiction of reality, but an artwork created through an intensity of looking.

All materials for the workshop will be supplied, and you will leave with your own nib and jar of Wallace Seymour Natural Liquid Ink to take home.
